A W/M badge with the majority of the silver finish worn off the obv. maker marked rev "AS" within a triangle. Hinge and "C" catch present but the pin has broken off. Packet torn but has been repaired. Maker to rev. is "Ludwig Bertsch Karlsruhe". Badge and packet are both different makers, but still good for display purposes. Grade III+

1859 GERM WW2 RARE CERAMIC MEDALLION FOR "DER STAHLHELM" 1934. Brown ceramic construction approx 38mm in diameter. Reverse features the NSDAP veteran's organisation logo with central swastika and German helmet. Wording around the outer "GAUTREFFEN 15-16 SEPT 1934". Obverse shows a stern looking profile of a soldier wearing an M-16 style helmet. Written to the outside is "15 JAHRE DER STAHLHELM BDF LEIPZIG 31 VII 1919-1934" Scarce. Grade II

1863 GERM WW2 KREISSIEGER BADGE WITH DATE "1939." An impressive looking brass and enamel badge with a spread wing brass eagle to the front, perched on a brass DAF cogwheel wheel has which has a Hitler Youth enamel/brass diamond super- imposed upon it. Small section of the enamel missing from the bottom of the HJ diamond. Pinback reverse with maker "Ferdwagner, pforzheim." Grade II-

1865 GERM WW2 CASED WOUND BADGE IN SILVER. Later war zinc construction. Retains very nice clear sharp detail to the obverse. Much of the badge has taken on a duller grey appearance with the silver finish remaining only in part. Maker marked to the reverse '65' for the well-known firm of 'Klein and Quenzer'. Nice straight functional retaining pin to the reverse. Black leatherette with some wear to the outer. Missing the hinge to the rear, but the lid is still functional for display and held on firmly with the inner material lining. (Does not detract from display). Small sticker to the base of the case marked 'Hauptmunzamt, Wien III' (Mint, Vienna III). Lower section of inner case lined with a light/brown coloured felt like material, upper in cream coloured silk like material. Clear outline of the badge in the material where it has sat for the better part of 70 odd years. O/A Grade II-

1866 GERM WW2 1936 PATTERN WOUND BADGE IN BLACK. Often called the 1936 Condor Legion Wound badges, this type of badge features the earlier "M18" style of helmet. The later badges, produced in prolific numbers, feature the "M35" helmet. A handsome hollow back "die-stamped" example. Much of the original black finish has worn revealing the brass base metal. Gives the badge an appealing almost 2 tone appearance. Functional retaining pin to the reverse. Badge has been slightly bent giving it that "combat-worn" look. Grade II-

1867 GERM WW2 ARMY CLOSE COMBAT CLASP IN BRONZE. Awarded for at least 15 and up to 30 days direct contact with the enemy. Zinc base metal retaining approx 50% of the original bronze finish. An impressive breast award with national symbol over crossed bayonet and stick grenade to the centre. Adorned with oak leaves to right and left hand side. Correctly maker marked to reverse "FEC WE PEEKHAUS BERLIN" and "AUSF AGMuK, GABLONZ." Functional retaining pin. Grade II-

1868 GERM WW2 RARE DUTCH NSKK LOYALTY BADGE. Large circular dark bronze pressed metal badge in the shape of a wheel and tyre. Measuring approx. 52mm across the widest section of the diameter. To the left hand side of the centre of the wheel, in raised detail, is a German style combat helmet. Large 'Wolfs hook' emblem to the very centre and a downward pointing sword to the right hand side. The word 'Trouw' (Loyalty) is located to the top of the badge in a small scroll. Missing the retaining pin and catch to the reverse. There is a small hole to the left hand side approx 1mm wide and 3mm long. Badge has possibly been ground dug, as with may of the surviving examples. O/a the detail remains clear. A very scarce badge in any condition. Grade II-

1871 GERM WW2 INFANTRY ASSAULT BADGE BY "ASSMANN". Hollow back version of pressed zinc metal. Badge has taken on a grey patina o/a, with none of the original bronze or silvered finish remaining. Typical high quality "Assmann" finish with very nice attention to detail. "A" for "Assmann" clearly marked to the reverse of the rifle. Functional retaining pin. Grade II-.

Fine machine woven silver-grey eagle and Swastika, retaining much of its lustre. Eagle is woven on to a field grey backing. Small stain to obverse and some minor fraying to the edges. Solid example. 1875 GERM WW2 RARE CLOTH BREAST INSIGNIA FOR COSSACK/ROA PERSONNAL SERVING IN THE WEHRMACHT. Unissued Bevo-woven insignia. Field grey base material with a central diamond shaped swastika insignia on a point. On either side of the swastika are three lines of light grey, field grey, light grey all of equal width. The top line approx 110mm and the lower approx 95mm in length. Some overall fading to the cloth. Grade II

1876 GERM WW2 GENERAL ASSAULT BADGE BY RUDOLF KARNETH. Zinc base metal with a silvered finish. Much of the silvered finish to the obverse now gone. A similar badge is featured on pages 118-121 of "The General Assault Badge" by Heukemes (2005). Has the peculiar "Ball Hinge" set up that sets this badge apart. Not maker marked. 1877 GERM WW2 INFANTRY ASSAULT BADGE IN BRONZE BY SOHNI, HEUBACH UND CO. Text book example of this type of badge as featured on pages 24-25 of "The Infantry Assault Badges" by Weber (2008). Fine quality zinc badge retaining much of the original bronze finish. Marked to the reverse "SHu Co 41". Functional retaining pin. One of the characteristics of this maker is that these badges have a retaining catch that opens to the left, not the right like most makers.Grade II-

1883 GERM WW2 KRIEGSMARINE BLOCKADE RUNNER BADGE. An opportunity to purchase one of the more difficult to obtain Kriegsmarine awards. Mid war issue tombak badge. Large circular construction measuring approx. 49mm in diameter. Features a merchant ship whose bow is breaking a chain representing the British attempt to blockade Germany. Silvered eagle and swastika perched on the ships bow. Well marked to the reverse with the makers name and details 'Fec. Otto Placzek Berlin, Ausf. Schwerin Berlin'. Functional 'coke bottle' style retaining pin to the reverse. Text book example, with a very similar badge featured on pages 390-393 of 'German Combat Badges of the Third Reich' by Tucker/Privitera. A large and imposing award. Grade II-

1884 GERM WW2 MINESWEEPER WAR BADGE. Later war zinc base metal construction with Tombac hinge and "C" catch. Only traces remain of the gilt finish to the outer wreath. Much of the silvered finish to the central water column remains but has dulled with age. Reverse of the badge retains much of the silvered finish. Coke bottle style retaining pin. "C" catch bent has been bent but is still functional. Unmarked example but most likely attributed to maker "Wilhelm Hobacher" of Vienna. A smiliar badge is featured on pages 322-326 of "The Kriegsmarine Awards" Vol 1 by Weber 2011. A good solid example for display. Grade II-

1885 GERM WW2 KREIGSMARINE CASED BLOCKADE RUNNER BADGE AND MATCHING STICKPIN. Large circular breast badge of black oxidised zinc with a silvered eagle and swastika. Badge is in very good condition retaining almost all of the blackened finished. Silvered finish to the eagle, swastika and outer chain remains in exceptional condition. Marked to the reverse "FEC OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN, AUSF." and "AGM u K4 GABLONZ." A similar badge features on pages 456-457 of the reference book "The Kriegsmarine Badges" (Vol I). The large stickpin is a "Half-miniature" (Halbminiatur) as featured on p922 of "The Kriegsmarine Awards" (Vol II). It also retains the same superb blackened and silvered finish. Correct partially knurled pin. Dark blue leatherette case showing moderate wear to the outer. Upper inner case lined with a blue imitation silk material. Lower inner case lined with a lighter blue felt, showing moderate wear and soiling. Cloth that covers the hinges has become partially detached (could be carefully repaired). Reverse has both the retaining pin and the top-hook for securing the badge to uniform attire intact. No makers mark to the reverse. Overall the badge shows some light wear. 1888 GERM WW2 HIGHSEAS FLEET BADGE. Early to mid war period "C. Schwerin & Sogn" manufacture. Handsome highly vaulted appearance with a base metal of tombac. Outer wreath, eagle and swastika retains most of the original gilt finish. Large battleship to the centre shows some wear to the silvered finish, mostly to the raised detail and the edges. To the reverse is "FEC. ADOLF BOCK" and below is "AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN". "Coke bottle" style retaining pin with a "C" shaped flat wire catch. A quality example for display. Grade II-.

1889 GERM WW2 LUFTWAFFE GROUND COMBAT BADGE ATTRIBUTED TO MAKER ARNO WALLPACH. Interesting badge as it is absolutely a Wallpach made badge as per details of a similar badge in the reference book "The Luftwaffe Ground Combat Badge" by Sascha Weber 2008. It is a late war badge of zinc metal base but it has been given a white metal finish. This could possibly have been period done as there is significant age related patina to the finish. No trace of the grey painted storm clouds visible. It is certainly a fine looking badge regardless. Grade II-

1890 GERM WW1 PRUSSIAN OBSERVERS BADGE. A superb example of fine German craftsmanship, most likely manufactured by Steinhauer & Luck (S&L) circa 1920s to WW2. Tomback/brass base metal with much of the silvered finish remaining. Black and white enamel chequered centre with red enamel outer shows only minimal wear. No damage or chips. Red enamel's appearance is reminiscent of NSDAP membership badges. Although not maker marked to the reverse, these badges have been attributed to noted maker S & L. Functional retaining pin. A fine addition to any WW1/2 German badge collection, or to complete a WW1/2 tunic. Grade II-

Only a trace of the gilt finish remains to the outer wreath. Maker marked to rear 'B & N' over a 'L' for Berg and Nolte of Ludenscheid. Retaining pin and 'C' clasp to rear. A representative example. 1893 GERM WW2 LUFTWAFFE AIRGUNNERS QUALIFICATION BADGE. Late war period zinc construction by 'Deumer.' Similar example on page 276 of 'Combat Badges of the Third Reich' Vol.2 Luftwaffe by previtera. Although the badge now shows the base metal only, it retains nice clear details to the outer wreath, swooping eagle etc. Maker marked to the reverse 'W Deumer, Ludenscheid'. 1894 GERM WW2 LUFTWAFFE RADIO OPERATOR/AIR GUNNER QUALIFICATION BADGE. Later war example but still exhibiting striking detail to the obverse. Zinc metal outer wreath and handsome tombac eagle clutching lightning bolts in its talons. Rear retaining pin has a slight bend as well, the 'C' catch having been straightened out a little. Maker marked to reverse 'Jmme & Sohn, Berlin'. A fine example for display. Grade II-.

1895 GERM WW2 LUFTWAFFE FLIGHT CLASP IN GOLD WITH PENDANT DEVICE FOR MEDIUM/DIVE BOMBER CREW. Mid to later war award. Zinc base metal clasp and device with gilt wash. Gilt finish now showing o/a wear and loss of lustre. Has the pendant device that was instituted in June 1942 to indicate 400 or more combat missions. Functional retaining pin to the reverse. No makers mark. Hard to obtain these high combat mission awards. Grade II-

1896 GERM WW2 LUFTWAFFE GROUND COMBAT BADGE ATTIRBUTED TO MAKER ARNO WALLPACH. Cast zinc based metal. Remains of the silvered finish visible. Grey painted thunder clouds retaining much of the original finish with some chips and areas of wear. Functional retaining pin to the reverse. Not maker marked, but definitely an "Arno Wallpach" of Salzberg made piece. A very similar example is featured on page 62-64 of "The Luftwaffe Ground Combat Badge" by Weber 2008. A fine looking late war badge for display. Grade II-.

1897 GERM WW2 LUFTWAFFE PILOT'S BADGE. Mid war example. Heavy nickel silver base metal wreath and Luftwaffe eagle and swastika. Brass metal rivets, hinge and catch. Beautifully crafted Luftwaffe eagle clutching the swastika in its talons. Some minor wear (only visible under a jewellers glass) to the eagle's head. 2 brass coloured metal rivets firmly securing the eagle to the oval shaped wreath. A fine age patina visible particularly to the reverse of the eagle. Wear to the hinge, to the reverse of the wreath, reveals a brass coloured metal. Retaining pin and "C" catch also in a brass coloured base metal. "C" catch has been repaired and is bent out of shape, although fully functional. Most likely to be a period repair, as there is also age patina to the silver base metal used to resolder the catch. Not maker marked. Overall a fine example of German craftsmanship for display. Grade II-.

1898 GERM WW2 HITLER YOUTH (HJ) PROFICIENCY BADGE IN BRONZE. Easily one of the most recognisable HJ badges awarded. Alloy base metal with a bronze wash. Retains much of the original bronze finish. The badge consists of a large Ryr rune symbol (a large arrow style device) with a ratating pattern swastika surrounded by a circle. Wording to the circle is "Fur LEISTUNGEN IN DER HJ" (For proficiency in the HJ). Serial number to the reverse "10883". Also marked 'RZM' and maker "m 1/101". Large functional retaining pin. A large and imposing badge for display. Grade II-

1899 GERM WW2 CASED HITLER YOUTH (HJ) GUASIEGER AWARD BADGE DATED "1944". Large silvered w/m badge with cream, red, white and black enamel paint. To the centre of the circular badge is a large imposing NSDAP eagle with wings spread. Eagle is clutching a "DAF" cog with the HJ insignia to the centre. "Gausigeer" was the middle level national trade competition for members of the HJ. Maker marked to reverse "G BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN". Functional retaining pin. Some wear to the cream background paint, revealing the base metal. Red leatherette case with silvered embossed outline of a HJ diamond insignia to the outer lid. Case shows moderate wear. Closure catch is functional. An impressive badge hard to obtain in the case of issue. Very competitively priced. O/A Grade II-

1900 GERM WW2 HITLER YOUTH (HJ) TRIANGULAR BREAST INSIGNIA FOR FLAK HELPER. Black material triangle approx. 110mm across the long side (similar in size to the HM area triangular insignia). Dark blue machine embroidered Luftwaffe eagle and swastika insignia with 'LH' in gothic script above it. Thin dark blue border forming a triangle around it. Un issued condition with some fraying to the edges of the black backing material. A fine example for display. GradeII

1903 GERM WW2 RARE TINNIE FOR THE DUTCH VDA "Volksbund fur das Deutschtum im Ausland" (Peoples League for German Culture in Foreign Countries). Circular blue, white and black pressed tin badge. Approx 25mm in diameter. Features the slogan "helft im VDA" (Help contribute to the VDA and an image of a farmer spreading seeds, with a village in the background. This badge was received for donation of seeds & farm tools for Germans in other lands. Functional retaining pin to the reverse. This is an exceotionally rare tinnie and not often seen for sale . Grade II

1904 GERM WW2 NSDAP 'HEIM INS REICH' (HOME TO THE REICH) BADGE FOR LUXEMBURG NSDAP SUPPORTERS. Large circular black, white and red enamel badge on a bronze coloured base metal. Measures approx 23mm in diameter. Outer black section has the motto 'heimins Reich', the lettering in the copper/bronze coloured base metal. The inner white enamel circular portion contains a large red enamel swastika. Retaining pin to the reverse. Maker marked 'J.B.'. Overall scratches to the enamel and a couple of tiny chips. This does not detract from display. A fine Third Reich badge. Grade II-

1905 GERM WW2 NSDAP "HEIMS INS REICH" ENAMEL BADGE. Similar in size and construction to the NSDAP party member badges. These were aimed at gaining the support of those Germans living outside of the Reich. The white base metal badge measures approx 23mm in diameter. Outer black enamel section with "HEIM INS REICH" (HOMES TO THE EMPIRE) in silvered lettering. White enamel centre section with a large red enamel swastika to the centre. retaining pin to the reverse. Maker marked "K&O" to the reverse. Some minor scratching to the enamel and loss of the finish to the silvered highlights. Nice variant NSDAP badge. Grade II-

1935 GERM INTERWAR STAHLHELM MEMBERSHIP BADGE FOR 1926. Slightly convex black enamel and w/m circular badge, measuring approx 30mm in diameter. Features a raised WWI M-16 pattern steel helmet over oak leaves and the year "1926" in silver. This is the year the veteran joined the organisation. Retains some of the original silver frosted detail to the oak leaves and date. Helmet has "Der Stahlhelm" and a small Iron Cross in blackened detail. Reverse has the maker's logo "STH", "Ges Gesch" and "935" (Silver content) in embossed detail. Engraved in to the reverse is "114" and the date "3.9.34". Functional tapered retaining pin and catch. These badges are highly sort after. Grade II-

1936 GERM INTERWAR RARE WOMEN'S STAHLHELM ORGANISATION MEMBERSHIP BADGE. Slightly convex circular blue enamel and silvered tombac/brass badge. Measures approx 22mm in diameter. Consists of a blue background with the outline of a German helmet in silvered metal. Large letter "F" separately attached to the centre of the badge. Silvered finish has worn off much of the obverse revealing the base metal. No chips or cracks to the enamel. Functional retaining pin to the reverse. Marked "Ges Gesch" A super rare badge. Grade II-

1937 GERM INTERWAR EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 'WEHRSPORTKREUZ DES STAHLHELM' (Defense sport cross of the stahlhelm bund der frontsoldaten) W/M and enamel breast badge. Rarely ever seen for sale, this impressive w/m and enamel badge consists of a slightly convex squarish shape, formed around a white Maltese style cross. The outer border of the badge is formed by four black enamel Prussian eagles with spread wings. These is some minor chips and grazing to the enamel, really only visible under a jeweller's glass. To the centre of the obverse is a raised, separately applied w/m Stahlhelm M-16 helmet logo. The badge measures approx. 51mm across the widest point. The concave reverse features a 'coke bottle' style tapered retaining pin. 'Ges.Gesch'. and the control issue number '312' are impressed to the reverse. The Stahlhelm organisation was absorbed by the SA in 1935. Due to the rarity of these badges, little is known about their origin and criteria. A similar badge does feature on page 567 of Vol.2 of Sport and the Third Reich by Newbrough (2012) and page 210 of Orders and Decorations Germany 1871-1945 by Detlev Niemann (2004). Its catalogue price Niemann's book (2004) was 1000 euro (approx $1,345AUD). Grade II
