FRANCE 1804-1814 FIRST EMPIRE LEGION OF HONOUR KNIGHT. A very rare Napoleonic issue. Gold, Silver and Enamel. Varying degrees of chips to the white enamel on some of the arms of the cross, mainly to the tips. The central medallion is of gold and features the head of Napoleon I to its obv. The Imperial Eagle to the rev. The dark blue enamel bordering the central medallion is well worn. The silver crown suspender has its original red cloth insert which is now faded. Old length of red ribbon, slightly faded and with its ends sewn together. Still in GC for an award approx. 200 years old. Grade II.
